Head Fake

In the boldly experimental new single “Sucker For Your Ways” and its companion music video, Head Fake are blending the best of 70s R&B with a post-millennium electropop that instantly results in a sound that is truly theirs and theirs alone.

A blissful indie cocktail that isn’t afraid to live well outside of the box, “Sucker For Your Ways” initially feels a like a beat-dependent piece of material, but it quickly becomes clear that singularity of any kind has no place in the repertoire of its creators. Head Fake are having a lot of fun being left-fielders here, and their excitement has me very intrigued to say the least. The video for “Sucker For Your Ways” doesn’t necessarily reshape the narrative of the track so much as it adds another dimension to how we could read it, and in my book, that’s a lot better than anything more (or less) ambitious in nature.

Contributing additional credibility to a piece of material that already feels like a work of the avant-garde can be as much as a group of players like Head Fake can do when limited by what they can convey inside of a recording studio, but in this case, it’s all that was required of them to make this song a hit. Made for dancers and those who love decadent melodies of the indie variety, you can’t go wrong with the fiery combination of rhythm and rhyme that Head Fake are offering up in their new single and music video “Sucker For Your Ways” this September.

This band has been on a roll in the last year, and as long as they continue to exploit the momentum set off by their debut EP with the liberal attitude they’ve brought to the table thus far, they’re going to keep on seeing success.
