David Arn

David Arn keeps releasing singles with videos from his latest album Traveler Tales, with 14 tales making up the tracks tale number 13 “ Love Is Free: The Writer's Tale" is one of many videos from this album to be found on the internet so far, but in which succession they are released, I just can’t be sure at the time of writing this. And after hearing the album in its entirety this track is part of a much bigger picture than itself and it is by far not the only single the album will have to offer as they are all intertwined.

You will have to hear the whole album to really know where any of the singles stand in their places together, but a good song is a good song, so while “Love Is Free: The Writer’s Tale” does play well on its own it still helps to k now where it is coming from in the track line-up. But first, Arn is a singer and songwriter worth investigating if you’re not aware of his two previous albums Postmodern Days and Walking In Dreamland. On his third release he goes one step beyond with a more progressive style complete with concept.

This single and other’s from Traveler Tales combines the talent of musicians and singers: Tobias Wilson on guitar, dobro, lap steel, bass, Joni Fuller on strings, Raz Ben Ari (guitar), Ian Smith on saxophone, (The Temptations), Jordan McQueen on drums). With Kerri Hardwick, Tyra Juliette. Two songs serve as introduction to new vocalist Ava Hart, with “Free Love: The Writer’s Tale” featuring Arn on vocals, telling it like it is from the lead spot in which he stands on an album that was mastered by Alex Wharton at Abbey Road Studios.

The quality level should speak for itself and it does. The amount of singles released by Arn is enough to see why it works so well for his as an artist, for instance back in 2018, his single "Not Amused" charted to number 13 on the Euro Indie Top 50 Chart, and Arn has also been featured on NPR stations, BBC Radio and heard on Delta Airlines commercial flights(not easy to accomplish). “Love Is Free: The Writer’s Tale” fits right into that same format and demographic, so it should be heard in the same airplay circles, as should most or all singles from the very radio accessible Traveler Tales album.

The video for “Love Is Free: The Writer’s Tale” sheds light on the changing season into the fall of September, which is the release month of the album. The freshness of the lyrics get a well-planned nod for the real time factor during the Covid-19 times and it breeds the transition factor as depicted by Russian dancer, Nastya Memphis. Top marks go to all involved in this album to put out a string of marvelous singles and videos, with this one earning its place at the top of Traveler Tales where you’ll find David Arn to be of some of the highest indie level singing, songwriting and recording chops around.
